Free Agency:
The max years a free agent can sign is 5 years. A player can sign any contract 1-5 years, unless that player is 35 or older. If a player is 35 or older, the max contract he can sign is a 2 year contract.
- The minimum starting bid is 0.5M
- The minimum bid increase is 0.1M
- Free Agent signings can not be traded until May 1st
- You may go over the cap to sign a free agent. 5M is the max you can go over.
- A bid must stand for 24 hours to sign that player.
- You may not edit or delete any bids you make. If you need to make a change, make a new post.
To win a player, you must offer the most amount of money. For example:
Team A offers: 1 year 10M a year = 10M total
Team B offers: 4 year 2M a year = 8M total
Team A would win the bidding due to the total money.
Discounts: (Listed on the spreadsheet)
If a player is owned for more than an entire season : 20% discount off final free agency price
If a player is owned for the entire season : 15% Discount
If a player is owned for less than an entire seasons : 10% discount
YOU HAVE TO WIN THE BIDDING IN ORDER TO RETAIN THAT PLAYER AND GET THE DISCOUNT
Example:
I owned John Doe for one entire season, so I would get a 15% discount.
I win the bidding at 3 years 10M per year
After the 15% discount, he would be mine at 3 years at 8.5M a year
Batches:
We would have multiple batches of free agents. For example, I would put about 10-15 players in a certain batch, and would list a date to go along with them. For example:
Batch 1 - Jan 5th - Jan 9th
1B Jose Dariel Abreu
OF Jayson Werth
RP Joe Nathan
2B Alexander Guerrero
SP Bartolo Colon
SP Josh Johnson
ect....
Batch 2 Jan 10th - Jan. 14th
10-15 players
ect...
Batch 3...4....5. ect.
I would try to spread out the player talent as equally as possible throughout the batches. Obviously we would not have batches for every free agent available, because I'm not going to put guys like Wilson Betemit and Jason Giambi in a batch for example. After the batches have ended, the remaining players could be posted at your will to be bid on.
If a player from a batch didn't sign by the expiration date, we would carry him over along to the next batch.
